I created this site as a easy-to-follow guide for people new to home cinema who, like myself a few years back, found in difficult to understand the technology, components and connections used in home cinema systems. Magazine articles were limited to a maximum amount of space for dealing with a particular subject and often had to simply cover the basics rather than a more detailed article. So the first version of this site was posted in September 1998 and was followed in December by the first redesign based on feedback from readers. This feedback from readers formed the basis of the regular updates during 1999 and most of the pages added during the year were created as a direct result of e-mail sent to me.

The first full version of the site similar to the site today was posted on July 20th 1999, and I like to think of this as the date when The Guide actually went online.

As the site more than doubled in size, a major overhaul was carried out during November 1999 to make all the extra information more easily accessible. Which brings us up to Christmas 1999 and this current site format, where the look of the pages have been redesigned following a few weeks learning how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver 1.2, before upgrading in March 2000 to Dreamweaver 3. The content has also been updated due to new technology developments in the home cinema world, and a better understanding of subjects on my part.
